No end in sight for mainland blackouts

The mainland faces power blackouts again this year, despite predictions that growth in consumption will slow on the back of a downturn in economic growth. The China Electricity Council, representing the nation’s power generators – which are predominantly state-controlled – said blackouts were expected in certain regions, seasons, and peak usage times during the day.
